CAROLYN J. ‘KAY’ THIERFELDER September 14, 1932 – January 22, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book Carolyn J. ‘Kay’ Thierfelder, 86, of DeKalb, Illinois, died Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at Alexian Brothers Hospice in Elk Grove Village. Kay was born on September 14, 1932, in Malta Township, on the family farm, the daughter of Willie and Martha (Askeland) Thuestad. She married Ervin Thierfelder Jr. on May 21, 1955, in Angola, Indiana.

Kay was employed by General Electric, in DeKalb and Chicago, as an executive secretary for over 20 years. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in DeKalb. Over the years, Kay was an organist at several churches where she and her husband resided.

She is survived by her husband, Ervin; daughter, Kari (Noel) Childs of St. Charles; three granddaughters, Stella, Trudie and Storey; and one brother, Orval Thuestad. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Vivian (Alvie) Moen, May (Bob) Dell and Ruth (Wayne) Henderson. Private Family Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Creston, with Rev.
