David Carl Johnson February 03, 1929 – January 13, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card David Carl Johnson David Carl Johnson age 89 of Cortland, IL, passed away on January 13, 2019 in the Presence St. Anne Center in Rockford, IL. He was born on February 3, 1929 to Alfred and Myrtle (O’ Keefe) Johnson in McHenry County, IL, and lived in the DeKalb and Sycamore area all his life. He was a Korean War Veteran serving in the 45th Division and received the Combat Badge and various ribbons.

He worked at various factories and trucking companies and retired in 1982 from Northern Illinois University after 33 years of service there. He married Mary Mantel Denny in 1965. After her passing in 1981, he later married Dorothy Ryan Miller, who passed in 2009.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Ruth Johnson Heath Erwin, and Violet Johnson (Robert) Johnson, and a nephew, Ronald Heath. He is survived by nephews, Robert (Kathy) Heath, and Charles (Mary) Heath, and nieces, Sue Johnson, Patricia Heath, and Sandra Johnson (Philip) Kenyon, a step-daughter, Constance K. Miller, and step-son, James (Carol) Allen. Funeral service will be held on Saturday January 19, 2019 at 2:00 PM in Finch Funeral Home with Pastor Janet Hunt of the First Lutheran Church in DeKalb officiating.

Burial will be in Fairview Park Cemetery with military honors provided by the DeKalb American Legion. Visitation will be held on Saturday January 19, 2019 from 1:00 PM till the time of the service in the funeral home.
