Obituary for Carolyn Priebe Carolyn Priebe, 73 of Gibbon died Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Mother Hull Home in Kearney. A memorial service will be held 10:30 am Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with the Rev. Duane Duley officiating.
The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday at the O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family to be used for a scholarship in Carolyn’s name. Condolences may be shared online at www.
osrfh.com. Services are entrusted to O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services. Carolyn was born June 29, 1944 in Hastings, NE to Glen and Willa Mae Fox.
She graduated from Hastings High School in 1962 and Hastings College in 1966. Carolyn would later receive her master’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Kearney. She taught ESL and Special Education for 35 years at Gibbon High School.
Carolyn also taught night and summer classes at UNK, Wayne State College and Central Community College. One of her happiest accomplishments was starting night courses in Gibbon for parents of ESL students. In 1966, Carolyn was united in marriage to Ron Priebe of Gibbon.
The couple was blessed with three sons, Stacy, Scott and David. Carolyn’s activities included coaching Junior Olympics, jogging, golf, playing bridge and traveling. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Ron Priebe of Gibbon; sons Stacy Priebe and wife Donita of McCook, Scott Priebe and wife Leslie of Elkhorn and David Priebe and wife Angeline of Maywood; 8 grandchildren Nathan and wife Haley and their son Micah all of McCook, Alaini and Nolan of McCook, Tyson, Jonah and Braden of Elkhorn, Santino and AJ of Maywood; brother Keith Fox of Kearney; sister-in-law Esther Fox of Austin, TX; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bob and Jenny Priebe and Marilyn and Paul Lutz of Raymore, MO, as well as, several nieces and nephews.
