Obituary for Carolyn Rehrig Carolyn Rehrig, 81, of Lopatcong Township, NJ passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at her home. Carolyn was born in Phillipsburg, NJ on January 23, 1937 to Esther George Ryan of Lopatcong Township and the late Joseph Ryan. Carolyn was a social worker with Warren County, New Jersey for many years.

Previously, she was an elementary school teacher in Alpha, NJ and Franklin Township, NJ. Carolyn was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School, Class of 1954 and received her degree in teaching from Trenton State College. Carolyn enjoyed gardening, quilting, reading, and her dogs.

She was an amazing cook and avid baker. Nicknamed Clever Carol, CC for short, by her mom Esther, Carolyn was a quick thinker and an innovative problem solver. Being a strong woman and free thinker, there were two ways of doing things, the wrong way and Carol’s way.

Her strong sense of independence and creative thinking will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Carolyn was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg, NJ. Carolyn is survived by her Mother; a son, Benjamin Rehrig and his wife, Kelly of Phillipsburg; brother, Fred Ryan of Ringoes, NJ; her beloved dog Miley; many cousins and dear friends.

A Memorial Service for Carolyn will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11am at Grace Lutheran Church; 300 Roseberry Street; Phillipsburg, NJ 08865. A Private Interment will be in Union Cemetery of Nockamixon in Ferndale, PA. In Lieu of Flowers, the family asks for memorials to be made in Carolyn’s name to Common Sense for Animals; PO Box 589; Broadway, NJ 08808 or Grace Lutheran Church; 300 Roseberry Street, Phillipsburg, NJ 08865.
