Carolyn “Sunnie”‘s Obituary Carolyn Mae ‘Sunnie’ Long, age 87, Carl Junction, passed away at 11:37 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2019 at her home after an illness. Carolyn was born May 25, 1931 in Kim, Colorado to the late Dwight L. Bray and Mae A. Hamilton Bray. Carolyn attended grade school in Columbus; high school in Picher and attended one semester at N.E.O. A&M in Miami, Oklahoma.

In 1967, she went to work at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons, Kansas. In 1969, she was offered a job at the American National Bank, Baxter Springs, Kansas as a teller, where she worked for many years. Carolyn was a member of several parent-teacher associations in the area and a faithful member of Christ’s Church of Oronogo.

She enjoyed gardening; sewing; bowling and animals of all kinds. Carolyn loved her family and will be missed by all who knew her. Carolyn married Robert Ray Long on December 25, 1949 in Picher, Oklahoma.

He preceded her in death on April 23, 1999. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cathrine Louise Fetters; a son, Robert Paul Long; and a sister, Marjorie Reed. Survivors include a daughter, Rebecca A. Brothers and husband, John, Carl Junction; five grandchildren, Christopher Schlichting, Wichita, Kansas, Dustin Schlichting and wife, Ami, Webb City, Angela Brothers, Sacramento, California, Jeffrey Brothers and wife, Meena, Mather, California, Steven Brothers and wife, Kristina, Roseville, California; and great grandchildren, Ryan Monroe, Aria Schlichting, Cameron Brothers, Seth Brothers, Felicity Brothers, and one on the way.

Services are planned for Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Christ’s Church of Oronogo. Rev. Mark Christian will officiate.

Interment will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, Kansas. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
