Carrie “Phontzie” Conatser, age 96, of Pearland, Texas, formerly a long-time resident of Murfreesboro, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018. She was born on April 4, 1921 in Murfreesboro, the daughter of Franklin Lee Hutchings and Laura Ann Lingo Hutchings. On November 25, 1938, she was married to William Andrew Conatser, a Missionary Baptist minister who pastored several churches in our area.

She was preceded in death by her husband on January 23, 1988; two sons, William Dean Conatser and Ricky Lee Conatser; her parents; two brothers; and three sisters. Phontzie was a homemaker and more than a full-time Mom. As her children were growing up, she served with the local PTA and many times as a school room mother.

Along-side her husband, she was always quite active in the churches they were serving. She loved being with her friends and just enjoyed life. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shelia and Ron Swatzyna of League City, Texas; four grandchildren, Tim Conatser, Drew Conatser, Renee Donaldson and Amber Conatser; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 19, 2018, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood with Bro. Melvin Markham officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday, 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, at the funeral home.

Burial of cremated remains will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, in the Delight Cemetery. Guest registry is at www. davis-smith.com.
