Fred R. Loyd, Sr., age 76, of Hot Springs, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday, April 29, 2018, at the hospital surrounded by his family. Fred was born on October 6, 1941 in Hot Springs, the son of Emogene and Russell Loyd who have preceded him in death. Fred and his mother founded Loyd Real Estate in 1971 and he began his life long career as a real estate broker.

He served on the Board of Directors of Hot Springs Realtors. He was a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Club. He was an avid fisherman which he enjoyed with many friends and family.

He was loved by all and referred to as Papa Fred by everyone. A Christian in his faith, he was a member of the Gospel Light Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of thirty years, DeLena Loyd of Hot Springs; two daughters, Melissa Loyd and Liz Ann Loyd, both of Hot Springs; his son, Rusty Loyd of Hot Springs; two step-children and their spouses, Julie and Jeff Flowers of Bismarck and Perry and Dana Lambert of Point Cedar; four grandchildren, Tiffany Kilzer and her husband, Daniel Petty, Candace Muzny and her husband, Grant, Brandon Loyd and Benjamin Loyd, all of Hot Springs; four step-grandchildren, Hannah and her husband, Chase Crews, Jedd Lambert, Kyle Flowers and his wife, Megan, and Emily Flowers; nine great-grandchildren, Joey, Cole, Emma and Gunner Kilzer, Paisley and Spencer Petty, Maleea and Adlee Muzny and Adeline Crews; and his in-laws, Debora and Luke Henson, Darrell and Erdis Collum, Harold and Dorothy Collum, Ronnie and Esther Collum and Lee and Barbara Collum; and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, May 4, 2018, in the Gospel Light Baptist Church with Bro. Eric Capaci officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Crestview Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Joey, Cole and Gunner Kilzer, Brandon and Benjamin Loyd, Daniel Petty, Grant Muzny, Jedd Lambert, Kyle Flowers and Trevor Fryar. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Russell DeLuca who worked diligently in the emergency room to save Fred’s life, Dr. James Humphries, Dr. Kumar Maruther, Dr. Joe Crow, Dr. K. K. Jayaraman, Steve Longinotti, Todd McDonald, Larry Brown, Garry Brown, Latt Batchelor, Q. Byrum Hurst, Eudox Patterson, Bro.

Nars Calata, Bro. Buddy Blunkall, Brett Pultz, Rick Davis, Judge Tom Smithermann, Patty Canada, John Burford, Buzz Goodwin, Mary Francis Stonecipher, Cheri Wingo, Teresa White, Joe Kilzer, Burt Creasey, Don Flynn, Roy Lambert, Karen Loyd, and the Hot Springs Board of Realtors. The family will be at 109 Greatwood Court, located off of Shady Grove Road.
