Obituary for Carroll Ray Clawson Carroll Ray Clawson, age 74, of Elk Park, NC, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at his home following an extended illness. He was born on March 18, 1944, to the late Robert and Ethel Lambert Clawson. Carroll was a member of the Piney Grove Church of Christ.

He was a retired carpenter. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Guy Clawson, of the home; three sons, Lincoln Clawson, Steve Clawson and his wife, Cathy; Byron Clawson and his wife, Jessica; seven granddaughters, Arizona Clawson, Emily Clawson, Liberty Clawson, Nikita Clawson, Taylor Clawson, Gracie Reece, Sierra Gobble; a great-grandson, Trenton Nelson; four brothers, Robert Clawson, of Granite Falls, NC; Fred Clawson, of Lenoir, NC; L.D. Clawson and his wife, Loretta, of Boone NC; Raymond Clawson and his wife, Bernadette, of Claremont, NC; and three sisters, Mae Clawson, of Middlebrook, MO; Madge Clawson Rhodes, of Norfolk, VA; Sue Clawson Fletcher, and her husband, Carroll, of Butler, TN. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James Clawson and Dennis Clawson, a sister, Donnis Clawson James, brothers-in-law, Sam Clevenger and Karlos Rhodes, and four sisters-in-law, Loy Clawson, Barbara Ann Clawson, Barbara Clawson and Sue Clawson. A service to honor the life of Mr. Clawson will be conducted on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Piney Grove Church of Christ with Mr. Dean Estep, minister and Mr. Lloyd Cable, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Reba and Keith Church, along with the Piney Grove Church Choir.

The family will receive friends in the church from 1:00 – 2:00 PM on Friday prior to the service. Interment will follow the funeral service in the Flat Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Elk Park, NC. Active pallbearers will be Gary Guy, Lloyd Cable, Ralph Lentz, Stewart Lentz, David Clawson and Tony Guy.
