Obituary of Catherine Hopper Catherine Marie Pusey Hopper, 92, was born on November 17, 1925 and went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 17, 2018 from the Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar L. Pusey and Ellen E. Pusey, her husband of 34 years in 1984, Lionel C. Pusey, her sister, Virginia Shockley, and her grandson, James Hopper. Catherine was a pioneer spirited woman for her generation with early career activities.

She attended Salisbury Nursing School and worked within the healthcare industry for many years at area nursing homes, hospitals, and private in home care. She also frequently opened her heart and home by providing personal and at times hospice-level care to several of her aging family members over the years. She also worked several years for the Salisbury Phone Company serving as an operator and in positions of customer service.

She also provided many years of volunteer service at several organizations, including Fruitland School Volunteer Parent, Fruitland Fire Department Auxiliary, Fruitland Cub Scouts, Sunday School Teacher, Church Ladies Aid, and in Home Child Care support for multiple generations of children in the area. Catherine was a woman of strong faith and would frequently share her love for the Lord and a gratitude of love and for life with others. She loved her family, friends, flowers, cards and pictures and the more of these she could get, the more she smiled and laughed.

She enjoyed watching NASCAR, golf and baseball on television. She also loved visiting with and entertaining the many loving neighbors, relatives, friends and family that would visit her over the years. Catherine is survived by her 3 children, William (Mary) Hopper of Delmar, DE, Martin (Amy) Hopper of Atlanta, GA, and Marie Hopper of Ocean City; 4 grandchildren, Josh, Tonya, Molly, and Scott; 3 great grandchildren, James, Victoria, and Nicole; as well as several generations of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 11:00 am at Holloway Funeral Home with Pastor Shawn C. Short officiating. Visitations will be held on Wednesday evening from 5:00-7:00pm and also on Thursday one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.
