Josi Mae Lus East , January 14, 1940 — July 28, 2018

Obituary of Josie East Josie Mae Lusk East, 78, of Shelltown, MD, died peacefully on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, MD, with her family at her bedside. Born on January 14, 1940 in Salisbury, MD, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Byrd Lusk, Sr. and Elsie Parks Lusk-Dunn. Mrs. East was a Certified Nursing Assistant doing home health care for 35 years.

She was a devote Christian and longtime member of the First Baptist Church, serving with the Women in Action mission group. She also served as a den mother in the cub scouts and a troop leader in the Girl Scouts and Brownies when her children were active. Josie is survived by her husband, Henry Thomas East, Sr.; two sons, Henry Thomas East, Jr. of Shelltown, MD, Jack Byrd East of Crisfield, MD; daughter, Teresa Lynn Passen of Parsonsburg, MD; one brother, Ralph “June Bug” Lusk; one sister, Shirley Price; sister-in-laws, Laura Mae, Judy, Phyllis, Anna Grace and Joyce; brother-in-laws, Richard, Marion, Al, and Billy; seven grandchildren, Jack “J.D.”, Robbie, Christian, Lilly, Nate, Zackary, and Victoria; one great granddaughter, Anastasia and one more on the way; and numerous extended family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Flora Murphy; one brother-in-law, Ron Williamson and three sister-in-law’s, Alice Lusk, Phyllis East and Carol East. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 12:00 pm at the First Baptist Church, 204 Fourth Street, Pocomoke City, MD 21851. A visitation will be held Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at the Holloway Funeral Home, PA in Pocomoke City from 6-8 PM and one hour prior to the service in the church.

Rev. Wayne Ayer, assisted by Rev. Olivia Costango, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the First Baptist Church Cemetery in Pocomoke City, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802 or the First Baptist Church, 204 Fourth Street, Pocomoke city, MD 21851.
