Obituary of Emma Muller Emma M. Muller, 87, of Salisbury, passed peacefully at Coastal Hospice at The Lake, Tuesday, July 10, 2018. Born on April 7, 1931 in Nassawadox, VA, she was the daughter of the late William Thomas Miles and Virginia Messick Miles. Emma grew up in Virginia and acquired her early education in Bloxom.

She attained a degree in Radiology and gained employment at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. She later acquired a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music at Salisbury State College. Emma was a bit of an adventurer, in her late 20’s she traveled to Japan by herself on a steam ship to join her first husband, Dr. Leroy E. Johnson as he was stationed at Tachikawa Air Force Base.

This no doubt was where she developed a fondness for Japanese art and Bonsai Trees. Among her other interests she enjoyed cross stitch, gardening, playing the piano and entertaining. Emma is a former member of a bridge club and the Pocomoke Garden Club.

She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Salisbury. Emma is survived by her daughter, Nancy Lee Johnson of Delmar; a granddaughter, Allison Lloyd and her husband Shaun of Delmar; a great granddaughter, Adelyn Lloyd of Delmar; a sister in law Norma Miles of Pocomoke City; two nephews, William Polk Miles and his wife, Jorun of Norway and Christopher Robin Miles and his wife Robin of Pocomoke City, and a great niece and nephew, and a dear friend Robin Coston of Snow Hill. In addition to her parents, Emma is preceded by her husband, Henry Reed Muller and a brother, William S. Miles.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 11:00 am at Holloway Funeral Home, Salisbury with the Reverend Robert Harris officiating. Internment will be private. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the exceptional care Emma received during her most recent stay at Peninsula Regional Medical Center’s 2nd floor Cardiac Care Unit and by the dedicated care providers at Coastal Hospice at The Lake.
