Obituary of James Butler, Sr James Allen Butler, Sr., “Jim”, 90, of Pocomoke City, died on Monday, September 24, 2018 at Hartley Hall Nursing Home. Born on April 4, 1928 in Salisbury, MD, he was a son of the late W. Marion Butler and Mable Culver Butler. Jim graduated from Pocomoke High School in 1945.

Jim worked for Beacon Milling until he joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served until 1959. He then joined Fulton Broiler Service and then became the Holly Farms plant manager before opening Butler Building Supplies in 1977, where he and his wife, Margaret, owned and managed the store until 1997. Jim is survived by his wife of 68 years, Margaret Hillman Butler; one son, J. Allen Butler, Jr.; two granddaughters Anna Butler and Betsy Brittingham and her husband John; two great grandsons, John “JJ” Brittingham and Zane Brittingham; one sister, Phyllis B. Fair and her husband Fred; two sister-in-law’s, Mary “Jimmy” Butler and Louise Littleton; and many extended family members including nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents Jim was preceded in death by one brother, Marion Linwood Butler, Sr.; two sisters, Virginia B. Merritt and Minnie Dashields; two half-sisters, Dorothy and Florence and one half-brother Arthur Butler. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Holloway Funeral Home in Pocomoke, City, where family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service. Rev.

Donnie Bailey will officiate. Interment with military honors, will follow in the First Baptist Church Cemetery, 2240 Old Snow Hill Road, Pocomoke City, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pocomoke City Vol.

Fire Dept. , 1410 Market Street, Pocomoke City, MD 21851. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home, P.A., 107 Vine Street, Pocomoke City, MD 21851.
