Ethel M. Tomblin, 96 died Monday, September 17, 018 at Salisbury Genesis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where she had been a resident since 2006. Born in Allendale, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Gladys Morrell. She attended the public schools in Allendale County and later enlisted in the U.S Army and served in the WAAC (Women’s Auxiliary Army Corps).

Mother Tomblin moved to Salisbury several years ago and was employed with several companies. She was formerly employed with the former Mangel’s Department Store in Salisbury and as a housekeeper for the late Dr. Earl Royer. She was a former member of Holy Temple Church of God in Christ, Salisbury, MD, under the leadership of the late Bishop James L. Eure, Sr. where she served for 40 years and served as a Sunday school teacher, former president of the Prayer and Bible board, chairperson of YPWW (Young Peoples Willing Workers) Auxiliary, former president of the Usher Board and former District Missionary.

She transferred her membership to Lighthouse Full Gospel COGIC in Salisbury, under Bishop Paul Harmon where she served as Evangelist Missionary, Prayer Warrior, Psalmist and Mother of the church. She was also a foster grandparent for Pinehurst Elementary School. Her survivors include one grandson: Thomas Wigfall, Jr., her devoted friend, who was like a sister: Beatrice Fountain, all of Salisbury, MD; several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

A son LeDon Reddick, daughter Essie Mae Morrell Wigfall, sisters: Ruth Davis, Gertrude Bowley, Isador, Edith and Elizabeth Morrell and one brother Richard Morrell preceded her in death. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Lighthouse Full Gospel COGIC, 816 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury, MD 21804 where friends may view one hour prior to service. Interment will be Monday, September 24, 2018 at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron, MD.
