Charles C. Nelson, 80, of Lincoln, Nebraska, formerly of Central City, Nebraska, passed awayat home with his family by his side, with the wonderful care of HoriSun Hospice. Funeral Services will be Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 1:00 at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City, Nebraska with Reverend Ray Norris officiating. Visitation will be Friday, February 1 from 5 to7 pm at the funeral home.

Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation and condolences can be sent to the family at www. soltwagnerfuneral.com.

Charles was born Oct. 17, 1938 in Polk, Nebraska to parents Robert and Blanche (Shroyer) Nelson. He received his education in the Polk Schools.

On September 22, 1960 Charles married Shirley Longsine in Central City, Nebraska. They madetheir home in Polk where he operated Nelson Well Drilling. They moved to CentralCity,NE in 1967.

Charles began his career with the Steamfitter/Pipefitter Local 464out of Omaha. He continued to work for them until 1989. Charles enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards, camping, tailgating at Husker Football games.

After no longer being able to work for the union, he enjoyed working in his garage refinishing woodwork and tinkering around. He also enjoyed his time with his wife, sitting in their porch swing, admiring his green yard. After Shirley’s retirement in 2007 they began spending their winters in Scottsdale, AZ.

He loved the sunshine and spending time in the pool. He is survived by his wife Shirley, one son- Rick (Suzette) Nelson of Lincoln, NE; two daughters- Rhonda Guilford of Lincoln, NE and Rochelle (Kurt) Kulwicki of Scottsdale, AZ; two sisters – Karen Blasé of York, NE; and Ada Springer of Wood River, Sister’s in Law- Judy Nelson, Bev Hulsebusch, Phyllis Nelson, all of Lincoln, NE; Brother in Law, Bill (Pat) Sitzman of McCook, NE; he is also survived by numerous Nieces, Nephews and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters – Ramona Maw, JoEllen Peters, Brothers – Dale & Bill; Sisters in Law- Sharon Sitzman, Janet John; Brothers in Law- Arnold Peters, Milan Blasé, Merton Springer, Don Maw and Dwain John.
