Cheryl Sue Smick, 72 of Pontoon Beach, Illinois passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at St. Louis University Hospital. Cheryl was born on January 16, 1946 in Wood River, Illinois; the daughter of the late John and Dorothy Frick. Cheryl was a legal secretary for over 30 years at Theis Law Firm in Granite City and was a Teachers Aid for the Granite City School District.

Cheryl was a very active member in the Granite City PTA and was a loyal member of Swansea Baptist Church, where she was a pre-school teacher. Most of all Cheryl loved her family and will be remembered for all the special times they shared together. Cheryl is survived by and will be missed by her daughter; Cari Smick and (Jim Hatch) of Northglenn, CO; son, John Angel of Pontoon Beach, IL; step son, Kent (Kate) Smick of Collinsville, IL; grandchildren, Jeremy (Sam) Smick, Gabriel Smick, Brandon Smick, Amy Smick, Heaven Leigh Angel, Jonna Angel.

In addition to her parents, Cheryl was preceded in death by her husband; “Gene” Everett E. Smick, whom she married on June 21, 1975 and her step daughter, Beverly Donnell. Friends may call on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. In celebration of her life, services will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Smith officiating.

Burial will follow at Valhalla Cemetery in Belleville, IL. Memorial donations are suggested to the Granite City PTA. To send flowers or a remembrance gift to the family of Cheryl Smick, please visit our Tribute Store.
