Obituary for Mrs. Christine M. (Charles) Carbone FRANKFORT – Mrs. Christine M. (Charles) Carbone, age 61, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 19, 2018 at the Albany Medical Center with her loving family at her side. Born in Utica on January 11, 1957, Christine was the daughter of the late Robert and Barbara (Platt) Charles. She attended Utica Free Academy and completed course requirements at the Utica School of Practical Nursing earning her credentials as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

On October 22, 1976 she married Anthony S. “Tony” Carbone with whom she shared 37 years prior to his passing on October 26, 2013. They were best friends and she adored him. The family they created together is a legacy and testament to their love.

Their children are saddened by losing both parents, …but they are now back together, forever. Christine worked for the State of New York Developmental Services Offices caring for those who needed guidance. She was compassionate and good at what she did, and the individuals she looked over showed so much affection for her.

Christine retired in August of 2013 to care for her ailing husband who passed away shortly after. She was a blessed caregiver and her love lives on in those who knew her gentle heart. A completely selfless woman, she put the needs of her loved ones, friends, and anyone in distress, before her own needs.

Gentle kindness was the guiding light of her life. She believed that every day counted and “we are here today, gone tomorrow”, words that her own children hold in their hearts and have shared with their own children. She had wisdom and honesty in her words, and sensitivity in her way of life that rang so true and resonated with her family.

Caretaking and nursing was ingrained in her nature, and she welcomed and gained guardianship of Patty Lou for 17 years. She was especially empathetic to those afflicted with Down Syndrome because her brother had this disorder and she felt for those facing the same situation. Christine was creative in crocheting and sewing, and could handcraft just about anything including hats, scarves, and mittens.

She enjoyed reading, especially spiritual books. God gave her a green thumb, and she used it to grow vegetables and herbs in her garden. She also created a “Fairy Garden” inside her house and outside as well.

She cooked up delicious meals for the marvelous Italian man she married, and the family she loved so much. God also gave her a love of animals, and at one time, she had a veritable “zoo” of exotic, beautiful creatures. She was also fond of watching classic flicks featuring Doris Day and Rock Hudson, a pastime she shared with her aunt Ruthie.

A communicant of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church, Christine was grounded in her Catholic faith. The Lord guided her spirit and she did His good works every day. Christine is survived by her children and their loves who she adored as her own: twin daughters, Valerie and Marcus Worden, and Vanessa and Mike Tubia, Nicole Carbone, Toni “Toni Baby” Carbone and fiancé Joe Pawelek, she also held close to her heart the memory of her infant daughter, Camille, and her sister Mary (who she raised as a daughter) and her husband Trevor Holden; and her grandchildren, Hunter Worden, Quinn Worden, Gavin Worden, Gabriella Worden; Anthony Tubia, Michael Tubia Jr., John Tubia; Marisa Holden, Angel Christine Holden, and Trevor Holden, Jr

She also leaves her mother-in-law, Marie Carbone; in-laws, Delores and David Wojick, Thomas Carbone, Michael and Michele Carbone, John and Jackie Carbone, Paul Carbone, and Christine Carbone; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, including Shelly Bell; aunts, Ruthie Platt with whom she shared a special relationship, and Joyce Evans; her “bestest friend in all the land”, Joanne Laucello-Luscomb whom she loved without measure and unconditionally, she had a heart of gold and a gentle, consoling nature she shared with anyone who was suffering, and her nephew Michael Carbone Jr., and Seth Luscomb who was her godson; her friends, George “Buddy” and Rebecca Joslin, who was her husband Tony’s best friends, who has never left the family,… Thank God! The family also wishes to remember long time friends Gene and Cindi Whipple. The Carbone house was a haven for many people throughout the years.

She was predeceased by her brother Bobby Charles, and her father-in-law John Carbone, Sr. The family is grateful to the ER staff at MVHS at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, the Mercy Flight personnel, and the ER staff at Albany Medical Center. Their medical expertise and efforts were so much appreciated. Christine’s loved ones will honor and commemorate her life at a private time.

By family request, please omit floral offerings. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Christine’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Wednesday at 11:30 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev.
