Clara Estella Zundt December 16, 1958 – January 14, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card To everyone one else she was Stella. To us she was Mom, Momma, Jefa, Baby, or just plain Crazy Lady. She was warm hugs and the best cookies.
She was good laughs and the Easter Bunny song that no one else knows. She was everything. Momma spent her whole life taking care of people.
Between the four of us, all of our babies and her family she had her hands full but she always found room in her heart for more. There were also the many, many ‘babies’ she adopted over the years as a paraprofessional and job coach for Corpus Christ’s Mary Grett School. She loved her kids and especially loved the Friday dance parties.
Attending those with her was some of them most fun we ever had, not just because the kids were great, but also because it was nice to be surrounded by people who loved Momma as much as we did. Momma was a young parent, so in many ways we got to see her grow into her own skin and claim her independence. She taught herself to drive.
She picked up new hobbies like competitive darts and was a karaoke queen. Her go to song was Bette Midler’s ‘The Wind Beneath My Wings’. Corny, yes, but Momma said she always sang it for us.
All that growing showed us how to live without fear of failure. Life should be more like the first time she put us four in the car with her… when you drive the wrong way into head on traffic you just tap the brakes, get yourself together and try going another way. So that’s how we all try and do things now.
One day at a time, the best we can, knowing if the way we’re headed isn’t quite right we can always redirect. Apple tree, Momma, apple tree. Those who knew her would all agree that Mom had the kind of light that just overshadowed any kind of darkness.
She could keep those around her squirming in their pants and pounding their fists on the table with her quick wit and biting sense of humor. She taught us all that there was no day so bad that we couldn’t find a reason to smile. Even now.
Even today. So instead of saying goodbye we are throwing a party. Momma loved parties.
Especially the ones were she was the guest of honor. Clara Estella Zundt beat her siblings in the race to be the first one to hug her parents on January 14, 2019 when she went skipping into heaven. She was born December 16, 1958 and had just celebrated her 60th birthday.
She is survived by her four children Venessa Santos-Garza (Adrian), Valarie, Michael and David Santos (Sandra), five sisters Imelda Reyes, Angela Zundt, Teresa Valerio, Elizabeth Palomo and Graciela Zundt, two brothers Emilio and Joseph Zundt, 13 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She is also survived by a huge loving family including many special cousins, nieces, nephews and her ‘adopted’ daughter Francine Del Bosque who was her favorite long before she was sneaking her out to buy treats that were not on The Warden’s approved diet list. Services will be held Friday Jan.
18 at Guardian Funeral Home, 5922 Crosstown Access Road, Corpus Christi, TX. Visitation and viewing will begin at 3 pm. The celebratory service will begin at 6:30 pm.
The Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:15 pm followed by eulogy and final prayers. Her ashes will spread during several private adventures at a later date. Momma loved adventures.
In lieu of flowers we ask that you have a piece of cake or sing a song or plant a tree. Just do something that will make you smile when you think of her. She loved making people smile.
