Irene’s Obituary On Friday November 16, 2018 Irene Cano Canales Mother of three children passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 79. Irene was born on February 15, 1939 in Corpus Christi Texas to Carmen Longoria Cano and Pablo Benito Cano Sr She had one Brother Pablo Benito Cano II.

Irene grew into a beautiful woman and participated in numerous beauty pageants in Corpus Christi becoming the Mexican Chamber of Commerce beauty queen in 1957 She graduated from Miller High School in 1957. She began working for the Juvenile department as a legal secretary and interpreter. She was the Executive Director of the Nueces County Bar association for 32 years and retired in June 2005.

in 1960 she married Gervacio S. Canales on January 16, 1960 together they raised two sons David & Michael and a daughter Belinda. Irene was a lifelong learner an avid reader with a passion for Genealogy she also loved music and loved to play the piano which she would often do for family and friends. She loved to travel.

Irene also was a devout Catholic and attended St. Pius Catholic Church routinely till her failing health prevented attendance. She volunteered with the pink nuns to prepare meals for the Nuns and to pray at the Chapel of adoration on Ocean Drive. She is preceded in death by her Mother Carmen and Father Pablo and is survived by three children David and his wife Debbie Canales, Michael, Belinda and her husband Daniel Covich and her brother Pablo B. Cano II and his wife Raquel.

Five grandchildren Patricia, Jason, Chloe, Nicholas, Phoenix and several cousins’ nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. and Rosary will be held at Guardian Funeral Home 5922 Crosstown on Wednesday November 28th at 7:00 pm and Funeral service will be held the following Day Thursday, November 29th at St. Pius X Church 5620 Gollihar Rd Corpus Christi Tx at 10:00 am with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
