Clara Mae Clarke, 78, of Lakeland, passed away May 18th at Francis House, only eight days after being cared for at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Dick Amato for the last fifteen months. She was born November 3, 1940 to the late Charles and Clara (Peterson) Clarke of Solvay. Clara graduated from Solvay High School, the most athletic of her class, in 1958, and immediately went to work at Dun and Bradstreet for the next 37 years, retiring in 1995.

She enjoyed crossword puzzles, word search and all sports, especially the NY Yankees, NY Giants, Syracuse Orangemen and Blazers. She also was a good left handed bowler and participated in many local leagues and tournaments in her day. Clara was an honorary member of the Solvay Tigers Ladies Auxiliary.

Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her sisters, Shirley Tripp and Linda Ptak, her only brother, Robert Clarke, and her beloved dog, Mugsy. Surviving to cherish her memory are her sisters; Nancy (John) Michalski, of Baldwinsville, Muriel (Ed) Michalski, of Lakeland, Wilma (Chuck) Puzzullo, of N. Syracuse and Diane (Dick) Amato, of Solvay along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends may call from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm Thursday with Memorial Services at 6:30 pm at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Avenue.

Private burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Warners. The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice and Francis House for their love and compassion during the last few days. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Clara’s memory to Hospice of CNY, or Francis House.
