Clara’s Obituary Clara Rummel, 101 Frankenmuth, MI Clara (Umbach/Pfromm) Rummel, 101 years, passed away on January 19, 2019 at Wellspring Lutheran Home in Frankenmuth, Michigan. She was born July 5, 1917, to the late Paul and Clara (Kloha) Umbach in Frankenmuth, Michigan. She was raised by her maternal aunt and uncle, Barbara and Jacob Pfromm, of Detroit, Michigan and returned to Frankenmuth in her teenage years.

On September 9, 1939, she married Robert O. Rummel, who preceded her in death on August 18, 1986. Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Bleke, on July 30, 2017, brothers; Art Umbach, and Ted Umbach, sisters; Gertrude Warnick, Esther Lohrmann, Hildegard Eagan, and Marion Phillips. Clara was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, the Lutheran’s Women’s Missionary League, and was a charter member of the Frankenmuth Women’s Club.

She volunteered at the Lutheran Home and the Bethesda Thrift Shop. She loved to play cards, cook, and entertain, but mostly treasured the time she spent with her family. She was employed at the Bavarian Inn Gift Shop many years.

Clara is survived by her children; Jack (Gaybriel) Rummel of Frankenmuth, MI, Sandy (Larry) Hartwig of Addison, IL, Tom (Leslie) Rummel of Newman, Georgia, Bob (Sandy) Rummel of Frankenmuth, MI, and son-in-law Dwight Bleke of South Elgin, IL, 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Surviving brothers and sisters are: Richard (Irene) Umbach, Victor (Marge) Umbach, Katherine Millerwise, Doris (Bill) Rau, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 10:15 a.m. at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. and 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church.

Rev. Joel Kaiser will officiate with burial between services in St. Lorenz Lutheran Cemetery. Clara’s family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the 10:15 a.m. service.
