Clara Tate Ferguson, 87, of Ringgold, Va. passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at Brookdale Danville Piedmont. She was born April 17, 1931, in Pittsylvania County, Va.

to the late Mary Hall Tate and the late Gurby Lee Tate. Mrs. Ferguson was married to the late Eugene C. Ferguson for 65 years. Prior to becoming a full-time homemaker, she worked at both Virginia Bank & Trust and the Virginia Health Department.

She nurtured a wonderful and loving home for her family, and enjoyed gardening… Read More » and growing a variety of plants and flowers. Mrs. Ferguson was a long-time member of Laurel Grove Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and hosted the Sunshine Prayer Group. Mrs. Ferguson is survived by her daughters, Gayle Barts and husband, Larry of Sutherlin, Va.

; and Phyllis Milloy and Terri Wentz, both of Virginia Beach, Va. ; her son, Mark E. Ferguson and wife, Kathy of Columbia, S.C.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ferguson was predeceased by her brothers Preston Tate, Floyd Tate and Ray Tate.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, September 9, 2018, at Laurel Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Carl E. Burger officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 9, 2018, from 1:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. at the church prior to the service and on Saturday afternoon at the Ferguson residence, 8120 Kentuck Road, Ringgold, Va. The family respectfully suggests memorial donations be made to the Laurel Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Sue Hair, Treasurer, 136 Church Lane, Sutherlin, Va. 24594.
