Eldridge Roosevelt Meeks Jr., 63, of Danville, Va. , passed away at the VA Medical Center in Salem, Va. , on Friday, August 31, 2018, after a 6-month decline in health.

Born on February 21, 1955, in Danville, Va. , he was son the late Sylvia Grace Garrett, and the late Eldridge R. Meeks Sr He was the owner of Meeks Rentals, a retired welder/pipe fitter.

He was proud of his service in the U.S. Army. He loved to travel and was an avid Harley rider who loved his family and friends. He… Read More » is survived by his wife of the home, Vickie Dalton Meeks; two sons, Eldridge R. Meeks III and Michael W. Wilson Sr. and wife, Tina; six grandsons, Andrew Meeks and wife Marie, Stephen Meeks, Matthew Meeks, Seth Bates, Michael W. Wilson Jr., and David Stepp; one granddaughter, Brandi Stepp; two great-grandchildren, Aria and Gabriel Meeks; his sisters, Monalisa Hooker and husband, Brian, of Dry Fork, Alice E. Meeks, Sylvia Ann Williams and husband, Mark, and Mary Leigh Widdifield; his brothers, David W. Meeks, all of Danville, Preston K. Meeks and wife, Diane, of Concord, N.C., and 15 nieces and nephews.

He left behind his pets, Zodie Mae, Kate, Buck and Lexus, who will dearly miss his love and care for them. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, James W. “Monk” Meeks, Michael R. Hamilton, and Warren G. Meeks. Hermon Chapel, Danville, with the Rev. Bob Yeaman, officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park with military honors.
