), age 89, of West Hanover Township, died peacefully at his home February 21, 2019 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Jonestown, Lebanon County, June 28, 1929 to Lloyd Hiram Kreiser and Stella Elizabeth Ditzler. Raised on a farm and educated in a one-room school house, he went on to earn a Civil Engineering degree at The Pennsylvania State University and a Master’s in Engineering from the University of Michigan.

In consummate service to his Country and his fellow man, Clifford Kreiser was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran who served in the 314th Air Division and received both the WWII Occupational Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. As an Air Force Officer, Clifford flew 106 Combat Missions in Vietnam receiving a Distinguished Flying Cross (heroism or extraordinary achievement while participating in an aerial flight), an Air medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters (acts of heroism or meritorious achievement; gallantry in combat) and a Service Medal with two stars (distinguished outstanding meritorious achievement or service to the United States) among other medals and ribbons. Still, Clifford’s preferred accomplishment was time spent in the Los Angeles, CA area working with Ralph M Parsons in education with Industry and time spent as the Project Manager on the shipyard in Pascagoula MI.

Clifford retired from the United States Air Force in 1977 as a Lt. Colonel and began a second career as an Airport Engineer with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Transportation; he retired from the Commonwealth in 1993. He was a member of Charlton United Methodist Church, Harrisburg and its JOY Sunday School Class and the CHUMS senior group.

He had previously been a member at Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church, Harrisburg. Community service was important to Clifford Kreiser.

He was a Life Member of National Sojourners and Member of Brownstone Lodge F&AM; Member of the Dauphin County Honor Guard; Life Member and past Commander of Shellsville VFW Post 9639; Life Member of American Legion Post 883 Jonestown PA; Past Commander of 18th District VFW and District Inspector and Community Chairman for several years. Clifford was preceded in death by brothers Harold Kreiser and Guy Kreiser and by his sister Myrle Behney. He leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Bernadette, a son Douglas Kreiser (wife Cheryl), three daughters: Carol Kreiser, Janis Lamar (Stephan Hooker) and Susan Kreiser-Array along with his only grandchild, Allison and several families of his nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 26th at 12:00pm in the Charlton United Methodist Church, 5920 Jonestown Road, Harrisburg 17112. Interment with honors will follow at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 25th from 6-8pm with a masonic service beginning at 5:45pm in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. in Hershey and also on Tuesday morning beginning one hour prior to the service at the church.
