Swigart, 81 of Londonderry Village in Palmyra peacefully passed away on Sunday March 17, 2019 with his wife by his side. He was born December 5, 1937 in McVeytown, son of the late John and Helen (Richard) Swigart. He was also preceded in death by his brother, James.

Richard had a love for many things in his life, but above all else was his devotion to his beloved wife of 59 years, Charlotte E. (Lantz) Swigart, with whom he would have celebrated 60 years of marriage on June 27th 2019. He was a loving father to his three children; daughter, Sharon K. Hosler and husband Philip of Lititz; son, Tim R. Swigart of Hummelstown and daughter Helen “Mitzi” Dye and husband Larry of Annville; sister, Nancy Duncan and her companion, Butch, of McVeytown; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and his beloved dog Coco. Richard was a dairy farmer and retired from Milton Hershey School after 32 years of dedicated service.

He was an avid sports fan and loved Hershey Bears and Washington Capitals Hockey, often working as an usher alongside his wife Charlotte at the Hershey Bears home games. What made Richard truly happy was spending time with his family, riding on his John Deere tractor, taking his dog for car rides, vacations and camping with his wife and family, time working at the auto car auction, making his homemade ice cream, planting in his garden and collecting tools He was a member of Spring Creek Church of the Brethren in Hershey for over 50 years, where he made many lifelong friends who he treasured dearly. Richard was a member and Past Master of Brownstown Lodge #666 F&AM in Hershey.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 22nd at Noon in Spring Creek Church of the Brethren, 335 East Areba Avenue, Hershey. Visitations will be on Thursday, March 21st from 6-8PM with a masonic service beginning at 5:30PM in the Hoover Funeral Home, Hershey and also at the church Friday morning from 10AM until the time of the service. Burial will take place on Saturday at 2PM at Spring Run Brethern Cemetery in McVeytown.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Richards name to the UDS Service Dog Program, 2270 Erin Court, Lancaster PA, 17601 or to his church. SERVICES Visitation Thursday, March 21, 2019 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. of Hershey 88 Lucy Ave.
