Cynthia Blyth Buchi January 30, 1956 ~ March 20, 2019 Our “Angel Queen” Cynthia Buchi, climbed her stairway to Heaven at McKay-Dee Hospital on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 due to complications incident to her fight with ovarian cancer. She was born January 30, 1956 in Helena, Montana to Robert and Sharon Strainer as the oldest of 3 children. Her childhood was filled with hard work and even harder play with her parents and siblings.
On August 17, 1974, Cindy married her high school sweetie, Paul Gordon Buchi, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was the best mom any children could ask for and “Grandma Extraordinaire”. Cindy had a myriad of activities that engaged her time and attention.
She always loved sewing and crafting, taking long drives with her husband, shopping, sitting on the porch during thunder storms, and amassing an impressive Barbie collection. She was a champion of people in need and had a special place in her heart for children with disabilities. Cindy had an endless, unconditional love for her grandchildren and doted on them continually.
She was always supportive of her family’s ambitions and dreams. She was generous and accommodating with her money, time, and love. Her greatest joy came from planning and executing family parties.
She loved to have her children all together, to see them playing, laughing and talking together. She threw THE BEST parties ever! The crowning jewel of her party planning was The 2017 Buchi Family Reunion at Flathead Lake, Montana.
Part of the reason her parties were so good is because she worked her ass off to make them happen. And she reveled in the joy her family experienced as a result of her efforts. A significant part of what made her parties enjoyable was the quantity and quality of the food.
Cindy was a phenomenal cook and made sure there was enough to feed a small army. Cindy was a non-conformist, true to herself always. She always wanted to be a dancer and now her spirit can whirl across the skies unrestrained by a flawed earthly vessel.
In keeping with the theme of her high school prom, she’s now climbing her stairway to heaven. She was preceded in death by her son, Bobby. Cynthia is survived by her husband, Paul, Tremonton, UT; daughter, Liesl (Corey) Richins, Clinton, UT; sons, Andrew (Sidra) Roy, UT; Spencer (Bethany), Mtn.
Home, ID; five grandchildren, Jesse (Dani) Zion, Gabriel, Zada, Zachary; a great-granddaughter, Callie Jo, expected in July; parents Robert and Sharon, Helena, MT; sister, Rhonda (Bruce) Robertson; brother Tony (Edwina) Strainer, all of Helena, MT. A Celebration of Cindy’s life will be held for family and friends on March 30, 2019 from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm at the Comfort Suites, 2250 South 1200 West, Ogden, UT. Though it will pale in comparison to one of Cindy’s parties, we hope to do right by her by serving some of her favorite party foods and presenting some remembrances of her.
