Moroni Delbert Johnson January 14, 1931 ~ March 15, 2019 Plain City- Moroni Delbert Johnson (88) passed away on Friday, March 15, 2019 in Ogden, UT. He was born January 14, 1931 in Brigham City, Utah, the only son and third child of five born to Moroni Scott and Mary Alean Ricks Johnson. He went to Central Elementary School and Box Elder High School and served in the Korean War.

He was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as in many callings: Scout Master; Young Men’s President; Bishop’s 2nd Counselor; High Priest Group Leader; Finance Clerk; and served an Ogden Inner-City Mission in 1999 with his wife, Judy. He was a Utah Extension-Service Master Gardener – two years as their president. He volunteered in many capacities, one of which was on the grounds at the LDS Ogden Temple.

He worked in the brick trade and was supervisor of the Pipefitter’s Shop at Hill Air Force Base. He married Edris C. Jensen in 1957 in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. They were later divorced.

They have two children: Mitch (Diane), and Darla Murphy. In 1973 Delbert married Judy Kay Rogers. Their marriage was solemnized in the LDS Ogden Temple in 1975.

They have three children: LaDawn (deceased) Carl Barton, Cortney (Julie), Deborah (Jason) Eatchel; 19 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. His sisters are Ruth Horsley, Mable Lu Waters. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, sisters: Mary Jane Waters, Mildred Josephine Barfuss; brothers-in-law: LaMar Waters, Alvin Waters, Louis Barfuss, and Preston Horsley.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the LDS Riverside Ward, 4575 W. 2125 N. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. , and on Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the ward building. Interment, Plain City Cemetery.
