On March 11th, 2019 Jacob, Jeneh, Lynli Rae and Deke W. Dursteler welcomed their Angel Mom, Toni Rae Spillett Dursteler, home to their loving arms after her courageous battle with Stage 4 breast cancer. Toni Rae Spillett Dursteler was born May 22, 1970 to her loving parents Donna Lynn Williamson Spillett and Gary Lee Spillett of Logan, UT. Toni was the first daughter and second child of seven kids.
Growing up Toni was always there to keep her brothers and sisters in line, but she never hesitated to instigate some of the crazy mayhem that was a constant in the Spillett household. Toni was known for her love of music and she did her best to fill her childhood home with her piano rendition of Jessica’s theme from The Man from Snowy River. Toni graduated from Logan High School in 1988 and attended college at Utah State University.
Toni was a valiant missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in the Texas Dallas Mission where she made many friends and shared her beautiful testimony of Jesus Christ with all she met. Toni was blessed to meet her eternal companion, Justin W Dursteler, and they were married for time and all eternity in the Logan Temple in June of 2000. Toni and Justin were blessed with four angel babies that were just too perfect to stay in this life: Jakob and Jeneh, Lynli Rae and Deke.
On February 25th, 2006 Toni was blessed with her most precious earthly blessing, her daughter, Shayli R Dursteler. Toni has been a True Warrior for so many different causes. She selflessly stepped up to the challenge of comforting those who were dealing with a loss she knew all too well; the loss of losing a child.
She sacrificed numberless hours to The SHARE group and was a member of countless other support groups where she gave love and hope to those who were in need. And through her efforts has made many friends and “sisters” that will always praise her and love her for her tender mercies. In 2016, Toni received the most challenging message of her life, Toni had stage 4 metastatic breast cancer.
She looked at this challenge right in the face and said, “Bring it on! ” She fought the most courageous fight that could have been witnessed. She lived life to the fullest for her family through so much pain and physical deterioration.
To the very end Toni did all she could to express love and gratitude to her family and friends. Toni will be missed in this life, but we know we will see her again; wrapped in the loving arms of our savior Jesus Christ. Till we meet again sweet Toni.
