Obituary of Darlene Lahah Boonville – Darlene L. Lahah, 74, wife of Carlton, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 15, 2018, in the comfort of her home. She was born on November 5, 1943, in Lowville, a daughter of the late Leslie D. Beck and Harriet Crouse Beck. She spent her childhood in New Bremen, before moving with her family to Utica, where she completed her education.

For a time she was employed as a nurse’s aide at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, and later worked for several years at General Electric, Utica. On March 12, 1960 Darlene was united in marriage with Carlton Lahah, of Boonville, in Utica. On March 1, 1979 Darlene and her husband, Carlton, established Adirondack Colonial Furniture in East Syracuse.

This business was her passion and she ran the day to day operations growing the store into three locations in the Syracuse area, and one location in Utica. She retired at the age of 62, and her children Jim, Roberta and Lori took over management of the family business. Darlene enjoyed reading, listening to music, loved outdoor activities, including golfing gardening and snowmobiling.

Darlene possessed a great talent in interior decorating and design. Besides her husband Carlton, she is survived by her children: Lori (Rick) Lee, Boonville, Roberta Lahah, Herkimer, and Carl (Peggy) Lahah, Boonville; grandchildren: Rieanna J. Lee (Jason Greico), Mandi (Jason) Croniser, Sara (Keith) Lynch, Jessica Northup, Laura (Justin) Walter, Adam Coe, Yvonne (Craig) Black, CJ Lahah (Victoria Morris), Michelle Lahah (Matt Costello), and nineteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Celia Virkler, Lowville, and Helena (Herb) Clarke, Utica.

She was predeceased by siblings: Leslie D. Beck, Jr., Robert, Lois, Helena, Joyce, James, Louis, Sandra, Howard, Sara, and Mildred Beck. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law: Beverly, Patricia, Janet and Marilyn Beck, many beloved nieces and nephews, several close friends, a sister-in-law Frances (James) Walter, and a brother-in-law Levere Neil Lahah. Relatives and friends are invited to attend graveside services on Saturday, July 21, at 1:00 pm in Boonville Cemetery.

Her family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the members of the Boonville Ambulance Company and the Oneida County Sheriff’s Dept. for their professional assistance and courtesy. Memorial contributions may be made to the Boonville Fire Company Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box #164, Boonville, New York 13309.

Her arrangements are in care of the Trainor Funeral Home Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
