Darrell’s Obituary Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 22, 2019 for Darrell J Broussard, 79, who went home to be with Our Lord and Savior peacefully on Sunday, March 17, 2019 with his wife holding his hand and his Children and Grandchildren at his side. Services will be held at Family Life Church, 2223 Dulles Drive, Lafayette, LA. The family will receive visitors beginning at 10 AM until time of Funeral & Eulogy Services at 6:30 PM led by Pastor Brandon Miller Darrell was born on December 7, 1939 to the late Raleigh and Ethel Mouton Broussard of Ossun, LA.

He was married to Molly B. Broussard, and just celebrated their 36th Wedding Anniversary on February 26, 2019. Darrell was affectionally known as “Dad, Daddy and Paw” to all his Children, “Papaw” to his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, “Pops” to all his “adopted” kids throughout the years and “Rug” to many co-workers over the years. Darrell loved being involved with family from coaching, being a band parent, travelling with his wife to Tennessee, but most of all being with family for the holidays and get togethers….

He and Maw you would make sure you would never leave hungry! He loved being outdoors, doing yardwork and taking care of his garden and flowers. He and Molly always took pride in their beautiful flowers that would bring joy and beauty to their home.

He was always sitting outside enjoying the sunshine. He is survived by his Bride of 36 years, Molly Bolinger Broussard, of Scott, his 5 Children: 4 Daughters: Natalie Broussard Romero, Melissa “Moe” Buckler and her husband Jeff, Darlene Duhon and her husband Brian all of Scott, Stephanie Broussard Slay and her husband Jason of Cankton, and 1 Son: John Raines Jr and his wife Alisha of Gonzales, LA, 21 Grandchildren and 30 Great Grandchildren – All who he loved so much! He is also survived by his 3 Brother-In-Laws Frank, Bill and Danny and their spouses and 1 Sister-In-Law Sue and her spouse, several cousins and all his kids he “adopted” along the way.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Raleigh and Ethel Mouton Broussard, Mother-in-Law and Father-in-Law Fred and Lola Bolinger of Tennessee, 2 Brother-in-Laws Johnny and Fred Jr, Sister-in-Law Virginia, an infant brother, his maternal and paternal grandparents, and 1 Foster Child, Donald Broussard. Pallbearers will be Grandsons Beau Dugas, Cory Prejean, Blake Slay, Sean Raines, JonMichael Raines, Shannon Paulson, Scott Paulson and Reese Anderson. Honorary Pallbearers will be his Grandchildren and his Great Grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Dr Darrin Menard, who took special care of Darrell over the years and to the 7th Floor ICU Doctors and Nurses at LGMC that cared for Darrell especially Lindsey, his nurse who helped him during his final hours. We thank every one of you for caring for Darrell! Our hearts are forever grateful In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to his wife Molly Broussard to help defray funeral expenses.
