Obituary for Darrell E. Ballard Darrell Esdle Ballard, 76, of Hurricane entered into his heavenly home on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at his residence after a long illness with his wife by his side. He was born April 19, 1942 at Alexandria, VA, to the late Eldridge and Ruby Keatley Ballard. After graduating from Groveton High School in Alexandria, VA, Darrell proudly served his country with the US Army.

Darrell retired as a driver from Greyhound Bus with 37 years of service. He received a 20 year Safe Driver Award in May 1995. Darrell fondly loved cars, trucks and he won several trophies for racing.

He also was a member of the Dancers Choice Square Dance Club, Hurricane. He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Linda; sisters, Shelby Bange of Fairfax, VA and Myra Backland (Mark) of Woodbridge, VA; son, Kevin Bryant (Geena) of Hartselle, AL; step-son, Andy Chambers (Christa) of Evansville, IN; step-daughters, Angela Daley (Rick) of Columbus, OH and Amy Roller of Cross Lanes. Also surviving are his 10 very special grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane with Pastor David Buckley and Pastor Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar with military honors. Friends may call from 12 to 1:00 pm Tuesday prior to the funeral service.
