Ramona Faye Erwin, 85, of Hurricane, passed away on February 10, 2019 after a short illness. Ramona was a 1950 graduate of Hurricane High School and was a faithful member of Forrest Burdette Memorial United Methodist Church in Hurricane. She was retired from Putnam County Schools, where she served the community as a kindergarten aide, and a school bus and classroom aide for special needs students.

In later years, she served as a trustee for the Mount Vernon Cemetary Association, was a member of the reunion comittee for Hurricane High School class of 1950, and was active in various senior groups in Hurricane and Teays Valley. She had a lifelong interest in the history and geneology of the Teays area, where she was born and raised. Preceeding her in death are her husband, Clifford Alvin “Kip” Erwin; twin infant daughters, Nola Jeanne and Naomi Joanne; parents, Everett Ambrose and Reba Faye Rooper; brother, Jack Eldon Rooper; and sister Naomi Gaye Samples.

She is survived by her daughter, Terry Lynn (Martha) McVannel-Erwin of Cape Coral, Florida; son Michael JoAlan Erwin of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister, Janet Lou Hill of St. Albans; and several nieces and nephews, including Charles Keith Ellis of Pliny, for whose friendship and help with various work projects she was extremely greatful. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Thursday, February 14 at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane, with Rev. Dr. Ellis Conley officiating.

Burial will follow at Mount Vernon Cemetery, Hurricane. Friends and family may visit from 10am to service time at the funeral home.
