Charles Ray McCallister, of Hurricane, passed away on March 23, 2019. He was born January 25, 1950 to the late Hallie and Betty McCallister. He was also preceded in death by his sister Shirley McCallister, daughter in law, Becky McCallister and special friend Jim Morgan.

He loved his family and also enjoyed woodworking. He was a former Chief of Police at Hurricane and then retired from Putnam County Board of Education. Charles is survived by his wife of 50 years, Pamela McCallister of Hurricane; children Michael T. McCallister of Milton, Misty D. McCallister (Stacey) of Hurricane and Nathan H. McCallister (Leigh Ann); sister, Sharon Duke (Perry) of Hurricane; brother, Franklin McCallister (Kay) of Hurricane; grandchildren, Seth Burger, Sean Burger, and Zane McCallister; step grandchildren, Andrew Bailey, Jenna Counts, and Robbie Counts; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and many other extended family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane, with Pastor Kevin Prevett officiating. Burial will follow in Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
