Damon Grant Massey, age 71, of Hurricane, passed away suddenly at his home. He was born, September 14, 1947 to the late Emmit A. Massey and Madeline R. Massey of Seth, WV. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sons, Matthew Austin Massey and Chester James Massey as well as his grandparents, Chester and Lura Massey of Ohio and Orville and Irena Aleshire of Seth, WV.

Surviving is his loving wife of 42 years, Vallery Massey; one son, Ashley Grant Massey (Ashley Nicole Massey) of Milton; two daughters, Hope Massey of Hurricane and Melody Pittman (Eddie) of Vero Beach, Fl; two brothers, Rex Massey (Linda), Sonny Massey and one sister, Diane Belcher; four grandchildren, Colton Massey, Michael Massey, Taylor Hardy (Blake) and Peyton Pittman and one great-granddaughter, Scarlett Hardy. Damon was a solider for Jesus Christ, spreading the love and good news of the gospel. He was a decorated war hero as he served his country as a Special Forces, green beret in the Vietnam War.

He was a wonderful husband, father, son, grandfather, and brother. He was loved and cherished by his family and friends and our lives are much richer for loving him and being loved by him. Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane with Pastor Rick Carey officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, Thursday at the funeral home.
