Darrell Lee Cossey January 07, 2019 Share this obituary Local Florists Send Sympathy Gifts View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Darrell Lee Cossey age 70, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Lexington, passed away Monday, January 07, 2019 peacefully at his home. He was born November 22, 1948, in Edmond, Oklahoma. Darrell was the fourth of five children born to Lester Edward Cossey and Dorothy Lorene (Johnson) Cossey.

While growing up, Darrell’s father worked in the oilfield pipeline industry, and his family moved back and forth between Anderson, MO and Bakersfield, CA. On Jan. 12, 1967, he joined the United States Army and proudly served his country.

Darrell served three years during the Vietnam War before he was honorably discharged in 1970. After returning home he served five additional years with the Army National Guard. In 1977, Darrell married Sharon Humphries and together they raised three children.

They first made their home in Macomb, while he worked for the Army National Guard. He later lived in Moore, OK where he worked several years for the US Postal Service. Some years later, Darrell remarried, marrying Hazel Brown Kent.

They were married on May 22, 1992 and in 1994 they made their home on a farm, east of Lexington. Darrell loved being outdoors and raising their farm animals. For the next twelve years, he would keep himself busy by working on the farm and chasing grandchildren.

Darrell was a faithful Christian and was a member of the Corbett Baptist Church, east of Lexington. He was an avid reader of the Bible and loved listening to all kinds of music. As his health began to decline, Darrell and Hazel moved to Noble around 2006 and in 2015 they moved to South OKC to be closer to family.

He was preceded in death by: Parents, Lester and Dorothy Cossey, Step-daughter, Shauna Lee Kent. He is survived by: Wife, Hazel Cossey of the home in OKC, Three children, Randall Eugene Cossey and wife Olga of Wellston, OK, LeeAnn Holmberg of Cache, OK, William Robert Kent of OKC. Two brothers, Ronnie Cossey and wife Teresa of Gore, OK, Lester Cossey and wife Dana of Guthrie, OK, Two sisters, Carolyn Pinkley of Billings, MO, Donna Kay Eiler of Yukon, OK, One brother-in-law, Edward Lee Brown and wife Kathy June of OKC.

Six grandchildren, Kevin Cossey, Nicholas Henthorn, Jacob Henthorn, Lucas Holmberg, One great granddaughter, Shayenne Cossey. In addition to several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
