Obituary for David A. Smith David Allen Smith, age 49, was welcomed into his heavenly home on Saturday, July 21st in Oberlin, Ohio. David was born in Akron, Ohio on April 4, 1969 to Rick and Kathy Smith. He was a 1987 Firelands High School graduate and attended Lorain County Community College where he received an Associate’s Degree in Business.

David was a beloved father and dedicated and loving grandfather, and he loved his family more than anything. He was a loyal Ohio State fan, especially football, and never missed a game. He was passionate about his dogs and enjoyed cooking and fishing.

David is preceded in death by his loving wife of twenty-six years, Janice Smith. He is survived by: his children, Felicia Randall and Anthony Smith, grandchildren Joshua and Landon Randall, parents Rick and Kathy Smith, brother Jason (Shannon) Smith, sister Nicole (Jonathon) Harris, Grandma Mary L. Smith, fur babies Scooby and Scrappy, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 28th at Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his honor to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention at afsp.org/take-action/give-a-gift/.
