Obituary for Grace M. Jones Grace M. Jones (nee James), 92, of Lorain, Ohio passed away July 25, 2018 at St. John Medical Center in Avon. She was born March 19, 1926 in Mitchell, South Dakota. Before coming to Lorain, Grace lived in San Francisco, California and was employed in offices of the U.S. Marine Corps Depot of Supplies.

There she met Homer C. Jones, a sailor stationed aboard an aircraft carrier. They were married May 1, 1946 and moved to Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania after Homer’s active service was complete.

In 1952, Homer and Grace moved to Lorain, Ohio. Grace worked at Winkelman’s for nineteen years until its closing in 1986 and then went on to work at Ted Jacob’s store in Lorain until 1991. She was also a Tupperware Home Party Unit Manager for eight years.

She was a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lorain and was an active member until its closing in 2000. She was also a member of the Lorain Family YMCA for 19 years. She loved bicycling and sewing.

Grace is survived by her son, Paul “Roger” Jones; grandchildren, Phillip and Lauren; great grandchildren; Eleanor, twins, Elijah and Ephron and Enzo as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Homer Jones; son, Marc “Ricky” Jones; parents, Frank and Grace (nee Stein) James; brothers, Francis James, Lewis James and Floyd James and sister, Myra Pearl James Landolfi. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 10:00AM until the time of the memorial service at 11:00AM in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain.

Pastor Laurie Miller of Christ Lutheran Church in Lorain will officiate. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Grace M. Jones please visit our Sympathy Store.
