Obituary for David Tullgren Jr. MACHIAS, ME – Commander David Bernard Tullgren, Jr., USN (Retired) passed away on June 1, 2018 at the age of 87. Born on December 20, 1930 in Swampscott, MA, and was the only son to the late David Bernard and Gladys (Ralph) Tullgren . David enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1949.

He had an illustrious career on both land and sea, retiring in 1986. David married the love of his life, Marjorie (Curtin) Tullgren who predeceased him in April 2011. In his retirement years, they spent their time traveling between Jacksonville FL and his Camp on Schoodic Lake in Maine.

He is survived by his children Debra Taylor (Plaistow, NH), David Bernard Tullgren, III (East Boston, MA), Peter John Tullgren (Montgomery Center, VT), Eric Stutz Tullgren (North Andover, MA) and Paul Timothy Tullgren (Colchester, VT). He is also survived by two step-sons Dale Curtin (Machias, ME) and Dana Curtin (Jacksonville, FL) and a nephew Joseph Riley (Peabody, MA). He also leaves behind his dearest friends, Jean and Jake Groder of Hancock, ME.

Per his wishes, a private burial was held on June 5th and he was laid to rest beside the love of his life in the Longfellow Cemetery in Machias ME.
