Obituary for David F. French David F. French, 89, Springport, died Tuesday, November 6th, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. He was born March 21, 1929 to Benjamin and Lillian (McGee) French. David was preceded in death by both parents, his high school sweetheart and first wife, Mary Jane (Razor) French and then Ruth (Crabtree) French.

He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tracy (French) Ogle. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne (Jesse) French and 5 children. Jay (June) French of New Castle, Linda (Richard) Ratcliff of Spiceland, Dale (Joyce) French of Mt.

Summit, Ben (Pat) French of Mt. Summit, and Connie (Ed) Smith of Lewisville. David is also survived by two stepsons, Brad Crockett of Evansville, and Brent Crockett of Bloomington.

Sisters, Dorothy Johnson of Mooreland, Anna Marie Craig of Farmland, Marjorie (Garnett) Hodson of Cadiz, Brother, Charles (Judy) French of Mt. Summit. David has 16 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

David graduated from Mt. Summit High School and lived in the area all of his life. David not only farmed for a living, he loved farming and doing things the right way.

He was a very hard worker and taught the value of that to all of his children. For a brief period David worked for Chrysler Corporation in New Castle. Besides being a member of the Blue River Valley Optimist in its beginning stages, David also served on the Board of Directors for Oakville Elevator and Henry County REMC where he served as president of those boards.

David won the Indiana State Corn Huskers contest in 1957 at age 28 by shucking 1,116 pounds of corn, or about 16 bushels, in 30 minutes. David was a member of Mt. Summit Christian Church and held various positions within the church including Deacon and Trustee.

David’s entire family was the pride and love of his life. Pall Bearers will be grandsons, Brian Thomas, David French, Chris Smith, Mark French, Steve French, Mike French, and Chris French. Funeral Services will be Saturday, November 10th at Hinsey Brown Funeral Services in New Castle at 10:00 AM.

Visitation will be Friday November 9th from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Rev. Ben Brandt will be officiating.

Burial will be in Mt. Summit Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt.

Summit Christian Church. PO BOX 310, Mt. Summit IN 47361.
