Obituary for William “Bill” Walden William M. “Bill” Walden, 86, of New Castle, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center. He was born January 9, 1932 in Winchester, KY to the late Sherwood and Nannie “Mae” (Thompson) Walden. Bill worked for Reid Photography Studio and later owned Walden Photography in New Castle for many years.

He was a well known photographer having taken pictures of many school, wedding and a variety of other events. He graduated High School in Cumberland, KY and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1954 where he became a Staff Sergeant. Bill was a member of North Side Church of God and a 50 year member of the New Castle Masonic Lodge #91 where he was a 32nd Degree Mason.

He received the Kentucky Colonel award and was a member of the American Legion/VFW honor guard. He enjoyed fishing, golf and also volunteered at Henry Community Hospital. Bill was an avid fan of UK basketball.

He is survived by a son, Gregory M. (Yeon) Walden of Temple, TX; granddaughter, Felicia of Temple, TX; a great-granddaughter, step-daughters, Leah (Denny) Middleton of Plainfield and Jana (Randy) Luellen of Mooreland; several step grandchildren; sister-in-law, Glenda Walden of Lexington, KY; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Ron and Alma Padgett; In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Doris M. Walden in 2008; brother, Robert “Bob” Walden. Military, Masonic and funeral services will begin at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. A contingent from the U.S. Army, American Legion and VFW will offer military rites and Brother Phil Brown and Rev.

Harold Goodpaster will officiate the funeral. Burial will follow in Mt. Summit Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be given to the donor’s favorite charity. You may express condolences or share a memory of Bill at www.
