Obituary for David John Hoffmeyer It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, David John Hoffmeyer of Ann Arbor, Michigan. He passed away at his home on December 2, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. David was born in Sparta, Michigan on September 5, 1943 to parents, Harold and Mary Louise (Powers) Hoffmeyer.

David graduated from Sparta high school and attended the University of Michigan College of Engineering. After a brief hiatus he returned to the U of M for a Bachelors of Business Administration with distinction and MBA in 1972. He met and married the love of his life, Shirley Siegel, on June 15th, 1968.

They remained in Ann Arbor raising their family after David started his career with Chrysler Corporation. His career included exposures in finance, production control, and scheduling. His main focus was in computer system design for purchasing in major systems.

He led implementation of purchasing local PC systems for over 1,300 users. He was also a manager of the staff support for the Vice President of Procurement and Supply. After retiring in 2010, David and Shirley pursued their passion of traveling, food, and photography.

David is survived by his wife of 50 years, Shirley Hoffmeyer; his children, Heather (Chad) Brewer, Kristen (Matt) Orbecky, and Kimberly Hoffmeyer and Jamal Graphreed; and his grandchildren, Jaylen Hoffmeyer and Lily Brewer.
