Sholto Martin Gilmore, 94, of Ann Arbor, Michigan passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at St. Mary’s Mercy Hospital, Livonia, MI. Sholto was born to Hugo and Florence Gilmore on July 7, 1924, in Costa Rico. He was the middle child of two sisters and attended school in Monte Verde, Costa Rico.

Sholto immigrated to the U.S. in 1964. He relocated to Ann Arbor, Michigan in the mid 1980s and married his sweetheart, Odessa who he subsequently adored for thirty-two years. Sholto was self made and self reliant.

His compassion and ability to help others were among his greatest joys. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, spending time with family, and conversation about his native country. Sholto departed this life with his loving wife by his bedside.

Sholto is survived by his wife, Odessa Gilmore, three daughters, one son, and a sister. His memorial service will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019, 11:00 am, at Bethel AME Church, 900 John A. Woods Drive, Ann Arbor, MI. Reverend Mashod A. Evans will officiate.
