David William Treaster November 28, 1930 – January 30, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Upload Photo| Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Sympathy Card David William Treaster, 88 years of age, and a resident of Heneritta Township, passed away January 30, 2019, in the arms of his love at home after a brief illness. David was born in Lorain, Ohio. He graduated from Lorain High School with the class of 1949A and completed additional education at Lorain Community college.

David is best known locally through his business “Treasters Tree Farm”. He initiated Treaster’s Christmas Tree farm in 1970. David loved growing and selling Christmas Trees and always stressed that the customer experience is the highest priority.

He enjoyed meeting and greeting customers as well as sharing knowledge about growing trees and caring for a cut Christmas tree. David was an attentive caring listener to family, friends, and his tree farm friends. His lifelong passion was his hobby of finding adventure.

He did this with outdoor pursuits canoeing, backpacking, camping, reading, landscaping, fishing, astronomy, traveling and beekeeping in later years. David was a long term member of National Christmas Tree Growers association and Ohio Association of Garden Clubs Nature Study Camp. He was an officer of Nature Study Camp.

He was a recent member of Lorain County Beekeeping Association. David was a Korean War Veteran with an Honorable discharge. In his youth, David worked with local farmers in Henrietta Township and moved to a small farm in 1944.

He was retired from Bendix Westinghouse after 30 years service. He was a quality control inspector at the Air Brake Division of the Bendix Corporation. He was a member of Birmingham Methodist Church for over fifty years.

David served in a variety of leadership roles within the church and was an active participant in many church community events. Survivors include his loving wife Barbara A. Treaster (nee: Budweg); his children Michael, Sharon, Daniel (Delia) Treaster, Patricia (Tom) Burleigh, and Deborah (David) Kessler; fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Hirbert W. and Freda Treaster (nee: Hopp); his brother Richard A. Treaster, his sister in law Marian Treaster (Kampelmann); his grandchild Michael Patrick; his brother in laws Gene Reindl, Ralph Budweg and Jerry Eucker.

Friends may call Friday, February 8, 2019 from 5-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave. , Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Birmingham United Methodist Church; 15018 South Street, Birmingham.

Burial will follow at Birmingham Cemetery. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Stein Hospice; 1200 Sycamore Lane, Sandusky, OH 44870 or Birmingham United Methodist Church; 15018 South Street, Birmingham, OH 44889.
