Obituary of David Bailey David B. Bailey, 79, of Jamestown, passed away unexpectedly Monday December 31, 2018 in the Emergency Room at UPMC Chautauqua Hospital. He was born March 3, 1939 in Niobe, NY the son of the late Arthur J. and Macy J. Berkey Bailey. David attended Panama Schools and graduated from Salamanca High School in 1957.

He then attended the State University of New York at Geneseo where he was extremely active in producing and performing in theatrical productions at college, where he obtained a B. A. degree in English/Drama Education and spent his career teaching in high schools in Ohio, Florida, and New York, until his retirement. He also became a Chief Tour Guide at Disney World and thereafter at the China-owned park known as Splendid China, also in Orlando, Florida. David was an active member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and St. Rocco’s Church in Boardman, Ohio where he was a Lay Reader.

David was a leading-national member of the Rosicrucian’s and was an avid reader and scholar, as well as a highly-gifted writer and lecturer throughout his life, having accumulated a personal library of literally thousands of books. As his avocation, David became a recognized Judge of the all-breed standards of the AKC and was always an active participant with Kennel Clubs, including the Conewango Valley Kennel Club. During his life, David was a world-traveler and engaged in cultural studies of ancient civilizations during his travels to Egypt, the Holy Land, Italy, Sicily, Greece, and other eastern European countries.

His favorite lecturing topics were of his in-depth travels to these countries, having spent all the seasons since retirement at the Chautauqua Institution where he enhanced his love for and practice of the arts. David was a loving son, brother, uncle, and great uncle who cherished his time with family and friends. Surviving are his brother, Arthur N. (Joanne) Bailey of Jamestown; four nieces, Christine (Chris) Bailey-Kellogg of Vermont, Catherine (Eric) South of Jamestown, Darlene Kennedy of Geneva, IL, and Kimberly Bailey of Jamestown; two nephews, Robert R. (April) Bailey Jr. of Jamestown, Arthur N. Bailey Jr. of San Francisco, CA; and several great nieces and great nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Frances Muriel Bailey who died in 1941 and a brother, Robert R. Bailey Sr. who died in 2001. A Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev.

Luke F. Fodor will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Conewango Valley Kennel Club at 137 Euclid Ave.
