Debbie Lynn Melton , May 25, 1960 — May 08, 2018

Debbie Lynn Melton, age 57, of Jacksonville, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones on May 8, 2018. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December of 2017 and she fought a short, yet courageous battle. She was born Wednesday, May 25, 1960 as the middle child of Linda and Ray Melton.

She worked in Houston for… Read More » years but after spending time in the country, Debbie decided out of Houston was where she wanted to be. It took her some time but she finally moved to “the country” and never looked back at Houston.

She purchased a home and acreage outside of Jacksonville and started living what she called the good life. Her definition of good life included cows, horses, hay fields, back hoes, tractors, and bulldozers were what made her happy. When Charlotte became ill, Debbie put herself aside not only to help Dad with Mom but help the family business as well.

It is just like Debbie to help others. Were it people or animals, she always had a soft spot for those in need. When she was not helping family or friends, she would be found rescuing animals.

She is survived by daughters, Tammy Melton and Vicky Elder of Conroe; father, Ray Melton of Jacksonville, TX; brother, Gilbert Melton and wife Christie of Houston, TX ; sister, Karen Buchtien and husband Ron of Cypress, TX; nieces, Shanda Simmons, Jenna Malay, Traci Crawford, Kelly Jackson, Emily Buchtien, and Shelby Buchtien. She leaves many, many aunts, uncles, too many cousins to count and dear friends. She also leaves behind her beloved pet Molly.

Molly is loved and will continue to be loved by all that know her. She was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Melton and her step mom, Charlotte. Maternal grandparents; Joe and Orilea Rutledge, Uncles Ralph and Wayne Rutledge.

Paternal grandparents, John and Syble Melton, Uncles Johnny and Robert Melton. Pallbearers will be Terry Bradshaw, Ricardo Rodriguez, James Heuitt, Aaron Dart, Jeff Sanders and Jessie Hack Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville. Jim Slocomb and Calvin Gould will officiate.

Burial will be at Rocky Springs Cemetery in Dialville. Visitation will begin on Friday, May 11, 2018 and friends are cordially invited to visit with Debbie’s family from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
