Obituary for Mr. Deisko Boyland Diesko Boyland, Sr., was born in Forrest City, AR, on February 9, 1938. He was the only child born to Fisk and Daisy Boyland and was preceded in death by both parents, as well as one brother and one sister. Diesko attended several schools during his early education and eventually graduated from Lincoln High School in Forrest City, AR, in 1956.

After high school graduation, he joined the United States Army where he received an Honorable Discharge. He eventually went on to attend De Anza College and was elected President of “The Evening Student Union”. In 1960, Diesko was introduced to Hilda Kemp by his mother and they eventually married on February 17, 1962.

To this union two children were born: Diesko Jr., and Andrea Renee Boyland (Grant). They would later on adopt Elizabeth Leah Jones. Diesko accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age.

He continued his Christian experiences as an adult and was an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where he was ordained as a Deacon and served several years. He also served as a Deacon at Evangelistic Baptist Churdch and ACTS Community Baptist Church. He also became a member of the choir and assisted with the Bus Ministry at Tabernacle.

He was involved in local politics, the civil rights movement, school board, and community activities. His career began when he was employed at Kaiser Permanente in San Francisco, CA. Later on, he worked for the City of Palo Alto as an electrician.

His career at the VTA began in 1978 and he eventually retired in May 2000. Upon retirement, he and Hilda moved to Edmond, OK in 1999. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Hilda, one son, Diesko, Jr., of Oklahoma City, OK; and two daughters, Andrea Renee (Grant) of Fremont, CA, and Elizabeth Jones of Edmond, OK.

He is also survived by a son-in-law, Mark Grant; two step-daughters: Cheyenne Grant of Fremont, CA, and Salinna Grant of Livermore, CA, as well as a host of relatives and friends.
