Delvin Gilbert Meyr, 76, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri died Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri. He was born December 24, 1942 in New Wells, Missouri to Gilbert and Florence Hutteger Meyr. He and Dottie Lambky were married December 27, 1966 at Jefferson City, Missouri.

He loved gardening and yardwork along with Cardinal baseball and Blues Hockey. He also spent a lot of time traveling the United States of America. He was associated with Lutheran education as a teacher, coach and principal for over 40 years.

His constant focus throughout his life was his love of Jesus. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. Survivors include his wife, Dottie Meyr of Cape Girardeau; four sons, Darrin (Stacy) Meyr of Ballwin, Missouri, Daniel Meyr of High Ridge, Missouri, Dwight (Diane) Meyr of Cape Girardeau and David (Meyr) Meyr of Seattle, Washington; one daughter, DeAnn (Gregg) Hein of Billings, Montana; one brother, Ray (Julie) Meyr of Jackson, Missouri; one sister, Betty (Mike) Longman of Jackson, Missouri; and twelve grandchildren, Joshua, Liam, Daniella, Stella, Gabriel, Garrison, Grace, Dwight, Cosette, Anthony Jacob “AJ”, Noah and Briley.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. Memorial service will follow at 12:30 pm Saturday at the church with the Revs.

Douglas Breite and Daniel Maske officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 pm Saturday at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau. Memorial contributions may be given to KFUO Radio or Trinity Lutheran Church.
