Obituary for Denise M. Forstrom Denise M. Forstrom, 77, Felch, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2018 at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford. She was born August 31, 1941 in Hamtramck, MI, daughter of the late Dennis “Tony” and Eleanor (Chmiel) Goovert. Denise graduated from Harper Woods High School in 1959 and went on to attend Central Michigan University where she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education with an English minor.

Denise married Roy Forstrom on October 7, 1972 at Zion Lutheran Church in Metropolitan. Her love of cooking lead her to open the Eclectic Belgian Café in Norway Lake which she owned and operated for 6 years. She also was employed by North Dickinson School for many years as a bus driver and substitute teacher.

Denise was a talented artist and enjoyed going to craft shows to sell her art. She made and decorated elaborate wedding cakes for family and friends for several years. Quilting with the Women of Zion, cooking and making bracelets at ManorCare were some of her favorite pass-times.

Denise loved spending time with family and friends and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her husband of forty-six years, Roy; two daughters, Lisa (Ed) Rohloff of Weyauwega, WI and Janet (Rodney) Anderson of Norway; two step-sons, Allen (Renee) Forstrom of Felch and Troy Forstrom of Hudson, FL; a daughter-in-law, Constance Priestap Murray (Scott); grandchildren, Mason (Mimi) Balicki, Josh Hedford, Gabriel Balicki, Hannah Anderson, Joseph Balicki, Franchesca Priestap, Allen Forstrom, Jr., Thomas Balicki, Brody Priestap (fiancé Haley Westlund), Jennifer Anderson, Emily Forstrom and Emma Anderson; a great-grandchild, Makayla Balicki; one sister, Diane Romatz (Jeff Hendrickson) of Marquette; a sister-in-law, Ruth (Lyle) Seehafer of St. Claire, MI; a brother-in-law, Dennis (Lori) Forstrom; a niece, Donna (Brian) Versteegden; and nephews, Steve (Melissa) Romatz and Dennis Romatz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Army Sgt.

1st Class James D. Priestap and a brother, Dennis Goovert. Visitation will be held from 10:00am to 12:00 noon on Friday, November 30 at the Mission Covenant Church in Foster City. Funeral services will follow at 12 noon at the church.

Pastor Kyle Henderson will officiate. Burial will be in the Foster City Cemetery. Denise’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
