Dessie Mae Black, of Duncan, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2018. She was born on November 13, 1924, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, to George Wildren and Mary Rodern Fielder Lynn. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May30, in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Bro.

Mike Peercy officiating. Burial will follow at the Claud Cemetery under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home. Dessie attended Velma public schools.

She married William Carl “Bill” Black and he preceded her in death on January 6, 1960. She worked as a cashier and retired from Safeway. She enjoyed crocheting and making doilies.

She loved to watch the History Channel. Dessie was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, attending every time the church held services. She was a member of a church trio.

Singing with June Whaley and Betty Douthit. She loved her family dearly and taking care of them. Dessie is survived by her son, Rick Black; grandson, Cody Black; great grandchildren, Jaiden and Dillon Black; brothers, George Lynn and Bobby and wife Pat Lynn; and nephew, Robert Lynn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Black; sons, Bill and Lyndle Black, her parents, and an infant sister, Wanda Ree Lynn. Pallbearers will be Leon Farris, Scott Farris, Michael Turkett, Randy Shirley, James Curry, and Steve Foster. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Duren and Robert McMurray.
