Dewayne Anthoney “Doc” Holliday, 39, of Grantsville, MD, died Friday, February 22, 2019. Born September 16, 1979, in Meyersdale, PA, he was the son of Gary Alvin and Marilyn Lee (Rounds) Holliday, Grantsville. He was preceded in death by his sister, who died at three days old, Beverly Holliday; paternal grandparents, Victor “Bill” and Cleda Holliday; and maternal grandfather, Arthur Rounds, Jr. For many years Dewayne was self-employed as a painter, working under the name of Deep Creek Painting.

He found many jobs for himself but was employed by many of the lakes building contractors. Dewayne loved working as a painter. When he was eight years old and was asked what job he wanted to do when he grew up, he said, “I want to paint”.

He took great pride in his work and seeing the finished product. He loved getting on his motorcycle and going for rides. Of Dewayne’s accomplishments, his greatest was his daughter, Brielle.

There was never a day that he saw her, that he didn’t tell her that he loved her. Brielle had the greatest love for her dad, too. Every time she saw him pull in the driveway she would run to the door yelling “My daddy’s here”.

Along with his parents, he is survived by his daughter, the love of his life, Brielle Holliday, Avilton, MD; one brother, Michael Holliday and fiancée, Arika Ficcaro, Cumberland, MD; maternal grandmother, Lois Rounds, Grantsville; one nephew, Roland Holliday; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Dewayne will be missed very much. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Grantsville Cemetery.
