Obituary for DeWayne E. Hopkins DeWayne E. Hopkins, age 85, of Joplin, passed away on October 27, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin. DeWayne, son of Buhles and Myrtle (McCutheon) Hopkins, was born on March 23, 1933 in Blakesburg, Iowa. DeWayne moved to Joplin in 1955 and since has worked as an Industrial Machinist, working for several employers including Howard Machine in Carthage, Jackson Jordan, Rocketdyne, Eagle Pitcher and his most current employer Landis Construction in Joplin.

On December 22, 2017 he was united in marriage to Jeanne Riggs in Miami, Ok. He spent his life as a hard working, genuine, honest man, who enjoyed his horses, traveling, flea markets, and the dances at the Senior Center. He was some who never met a stranger and always helped anyone in need, always taking care of family and strangers alike.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Hopkins, of Joplin; six children, Kathy, and her husband, Daniel Avicola, of Greer’s Ferry, Ar. , Susan Bryant and her husband, Larry, of Joplin, Mo, Anita Hart, and her husband, Mike, of Derby, Kansas, Steve Hopkins, and his wife, Kathy, of Long Island, NY, Susan Hopkins, of Pierce City, Mo, and Georgia Jenkins, and her husband, Richard, of Wichita, Ks. ; eighteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a wife, Erma Hopkins on November 16, 2013, and their two sons, Richard Bolin and Michael Sears. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary, Joplin.
